For the recent City Council election, Oberbeck’s campaign focused on using development to boost the local economy and lower taxes. He is an advocate for increased park space and the expansion of biking and walking paths. While in office, he plans to promote AIA initiatives on strengthening neighborhoods.
“As a citizen architect, I will have the opportunity to facilitate and guide the initiatives that are designed to improve our community,” he said.
Oberbeck’s career in civic engagement began in 2002, when he was appointed to Wausau’s Historical Preservation Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Building Advisory Board. |

ALDERPERSON/ARCHITECT PARTICIPATES IN FIRE OPS 101

The program of five scenarios gave each participant a brief opportunity to experience what fire fighters and paramedics do on a day-to-day basis… a structure fire, a vehicle fire, building search and rescue, auto extraction and training simulations. The event was attended by local/state officials and members of the media.
